Mission's T-Shirt

Every summer, Crossway Community Church sends three teams to Tokyo, Japan, Shiogama, Japan, and  Mississippi to reach the world for Christ.  The theme of the 2024 Missions Trip was based on Matthew 4:19, to be "fishers of men."

Objective: Create an imagery for Crossway Community Church's summer missions trip 2024.

Design: The main elements for these designs are inspired by the phrase Jesus said, "fishers of men." The big red fish represents Jesus, and the blood he sacrificed for us on the cross, while the three smaller blue fish are meant to represent us, the followers of Christ.  The number of fish is also significant, as four is a special number in the bible that represents completeness. In the back of the design, the fish are placed to look like a cross, and in the front the smaller blue fish are placed to follow the bigger fish.

Process

Napkin Sketch:

I sketched out some designs of what I wanted for both the images on the front and on the back. The design I knew I wanted to have was of a fish, so I chose this iteration of the sketches I had.

Adobe Illustrator:

I translated my sketch into Adobe Illustrator and started to create it as a vector image.  I then experimented with the colors, and it came down to two: the red and pink one and the red and blue one. I was also tasked with applying text to the design, saying Crossway Missions 2024. I also changed the  back to be the front and vice versa from the sketch.

Colors:

Before choosing the colors for the final shirt design, I experimented with the placement of the shirts and the colors of the shirt itself.
